New Season is Brewing, but we're on break right now.

It’s time for the I-95 pistol packing driver to holster her gun and for the Larry Craig “Minneapolis Airport Men’s Room Getting-to-Know-You Soft Shoe” dancers to leave their stalls. The stressed-out singing Mom can finally get some rest and the spear-twirling caveman can spend the summer evolving when the curtain falls as Laffing Matterz at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts closes its first season at the venue on Sunday, June 27 before returning with a new show next fall.

“Economists and environmentalists may disagree, but 2010 has been a very good year. At least for comedy,” said Mark Wells, who creates the show with his wife, Rita. “When the craziness of life gets to most people, they can only write their representatives or pay for a shrink. Rita and I can create a new comedy routine and share that with others to get us all laughing. I’m sure there will be no shortage of material when we are back in the fall.”

Featuring the news of the day and slices of everyday life, Laffing Matterz serves up comedy and songs along with a sumptuous preshow meal. The serious dinning and hilarious theater features a cast of a dozen multi-talented performers.

Showtimes are Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Admission to Laffing Matterz at the Broward Center is $63 and $68 and includes the show and a dinner with house salad, a choice of entree and warm sourdough bread as well as tax and gratuity while appetizers, desserts and alcoholic beverages are billed separately.
